Promina was created in October 1994 with the alliance of Gwinnett Health System, Piedmont Medical Center and Northwest Georgia Health System. In January 1996, Georgia MedCorp joined the system. It consists of five systems, each with a number of satellite facilities. Promina has a single board of directors, but local organizations retain their own boards as well. Management is provided by a Chief Executive Officer Council. Altogether, the system comprises 2,600 beds and a medical staff of more than 2,800.
